After months of forums, Q&As, political ads and mailers, yard signs and so, so much more, the election season is finally over. But what happened? And what does that mean for Lee's Summit going forward. The truth is, we typically don't see the actual ramification of a particular election for some time. But in this week's Monday NewsLink we offer up not only the election results, but a look at some quick action taken by the Lee's Summit R-7 School District based on the results. And local guest columnist John Beaudoin offers up a few of his thoughts on what voters told us last week. Oh, and don't forget to check out this week's episode of the Lee's Summit Town Hall podcast to meet a new local nonprofit — Today Promises Tomorrow.

COMMENTARY: The election hangover & what the voters told us
[Local Stories | Community]
The first few days after an election are always a little awkward. Some candidates — and voters — are upset. Some are just shy about returning to normal conversations with other residents. And everyone is wondering, "what's next?" Let's take a look at what we think we heard from local voters last week.
Less than 48 hours after Lee's Summit voters approved Proposition C with 60% of the vote, the R-7 Board of Education approved a new compensation package covering all 2,800 district employees. There was debate — and one no vote. Here's what the board decided and what it means going forward.

A bi-weekly look into the homes that make Lee's Summit a community
433 NW Kaylea Court — Lee's Summit, MO 64081
"Woodside Ridge Villas is one of those communities that tends to surprise people when they see it in person. The maintenance-provided model appeals to a wide range of buyers — empty nesters looking to simplify, busy professionals who want the house without the weekend chore list. A 5-year young villa at this price point, with a walkout basement stubbed for expansion, is a strong value position in today's Lee's Summit market. This one is worth a look before it moves." — Mike Maksin, Realtor, The Hern Group/KW
The thing that hits me every week when I take a look at the community calendar is there's a little something for everyone and every mood. A few things stick out to me this week.
Top of my list (and this is usually true) is the Downtown Lee's Summit Farmers Market happening ever Wednesday and Saturday. I like to play a little game with myself and create a menu for the evening meal using only ingredients I find at the market.
I'm a bit of a nerd, so I love trivia nights and other gatherings for gaming. Thursday Team Trivia at Brick's is always a good time.
Are you one of those green thumb types. You should check out the Native Plant Sale happening Friday. A portion of all proceeds helps the Rotary Youth Camp with it's mission of serving kids with disabilities and special needs.
If you, or your organization, have an event you'd like listed in Lee's Summit's only community calendar reaching more than 20,000 people, just click here and hit the "CREATE AN EVENT" BUTTON.
