If there's one thing that always sticks out to me when looking at our news site, and the reader data that goes with it, is our community's desire and capacity to see all the news about our hometown. This week has been a great example as readers absorb not only a preview of Tuesday's City Council meeting, but also check out local business owner Mike Maksin's celebration of local student athletes. This week's Monday NewsLink hits a few areas from all around the community.

If you've followed Link 2 Lee's Summit or the Lee's Summit Town Hall podcast at all, then you know taco-centric events will always catch our eye. If you're like us, then you'll love everything about "Taco Tuesday" this week! A few things stick out to me this week as our family and friends make plans. OK, we like a litte nerdery, too. So, May the 4th be with you!

  • It's May the 4th — and yes, Bricks & Minifigs Lee's Summit is fully leaning in with a May the 4th Celebration starting at 11 a.m. today. If you've got a Star Wars fan in the house (and let's be honest, who doesn't?), this one is a no-brainer.
  • Cinco de Mayo falls on a Tuesday this year, and Lee's Summit is ready. Tacos, Nachos & More kicks off at 5:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and then The M80s bring the party to Habanero's at 6 p.m. Two great options, or honestly... do both. Before you move on, one quick question — Where are your favorite tacos?
  • I love that Silent Book Club Lee's Summit is a thing. Thursday night at 6 p.m. at International Tap House . You show up, you read your own book, you enjoy a beverage. No discussion required.
  • Blues Fest at Legacy Park Amphitheater on Saturday night at 8 p.m. is one of those events that just feels like a Lee's Summit moment. Get outside, enjoy some great music, and soak up what makes this community special.
  • And don't forget — the Downtown Lee's Summit Farmers Market runs both Wednesday and Saturday this week. Go find your favorite bread vendor and report back.

If you, or your organization, have an event you'd like listed in Lee's Summit's only community calendar reaching more than 20,000 people, just click here and hit the "CREATE AN EVENT" BUTTON.
