Lee's Summit City Council meets Tuesday night to hear a conceptual incentive pitch for a development project code-named "Project Kings" — and that's about all that's been made public so far. The agenda also includes a vote on a flood risk management partnership with the Army Corps of Engineers and more than $5.8 million in infrastructure spending. If you want to follow along, the meeting starts at 6 p.m. and streams live at WatchLS.net. Read the full story.
Lee's Summit cracks down on abuse in youth and adult sports
[Local Stories | Community]
Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation has a new policy with real teeth. The Athletic Staff and Volunteer Abuse Prevention Matrix sets tiered consequences for anyone who mistreats a referee, staffer or volunteer at city-run sports programs — from single-game suspensions to lifetime bans. It was developed alongside four local athletic associations and covers everything from trash talk to physical assault. If your kid plays rec ball in this city, this one's worth reading.

One of my favorite things about covering Lee's Summit is weeks like this one — where the calendar does the heavy lifting.
Summit Waves opens Saturday — yes, outdoor pool season is officially here. The Downtown Farmers Market is running Wednesday morning and again Saturday. Fourth Fridays Art Walk is back on Main Street Friday at 5 p.m. And if you're looking for something a little different, Radius Sessions Bring Your Own Vinyl Night at Diametric Thursday at 6 p.m. is exactly what it sounds like — and that's a great thing.
For the parents in the group: Mother and Son Nerf Night at Harris Park Community Center Friday evening is $25 and sounds like a blast. And Saturday night has options ranging from comedy at Jazzy B's BBQ to live music at the Pink Elephant and The 1909 Club.
If you, or your organization, have an event you'd like listed in Lee's Summit's only community calendar reaching more than 20,000 people, just click here and hit the "CREATE AN EVENT" BUTTON.
